The canine died in the early afternoon, watched by his owner.

JERUSALEM (Reuters) - Former Israeli president Moshe Katsav began serving a seven-year prison term for rape on Wednesday, professing his innocence and saying he was being "buried alive."
The case has captivated the country for more than five years and marked the first time a former Israeli head of state has been jailed. Officials say it proves no one is above the law.
Katsav, 66, was president from 2000 to 2007. He was convicted last year of twice raping an aide when he was a cabinet minister in the late 1990s and sexually assaulting two other women who worked for him while he was president."

TIME - M*A*S*H’s Harry Morgan Dies at 96, Dec 07, 2011

M*A*S*H’s Harry Morgan Dies at 96 | Entertainment | TIME.com: "Harry Morgan, best known to TV audiences for playing the gruff, lovable Col. Sherman T. Potter on M*A*S*H, died Wednesday morning. (Given that he died at the age of 96, I think congratulations are in order along with the condolences.)
Morgan had a vast and varied career, and viewers with a longer memory will also recall him from the 1967 relaunch of Dragnet or his dozens of other roles. Possibly the best tribute one can give to the skills of a TV character actor is that a series casts him in a role, then brings him back in an entirely different one simply because his work is so good. In Morgan’s case, he came on the Korean War sitcom in an early episode, “The General Flipped at Dawn,” in which he played a gung-ho, bigoted and comically unhinged general who sweeps into the 4077th to move it closer to the front and closer in line with standard military operating procedure. To this day, his dancing off the episode while singing “Mississippi Mud” is one of the M*A*S*H scenes I can see and hear most clearly in my mind."'

NY DAILY NEWS - Angelina Jolie at a loss for words after questions about Bosnia adoption at 'In the Land of Blood and Honey' premiere, Dec 07, 2011

Adoption fan Angelina Jolie said she has no Bosnia plans at the moment, but you never know what she and Brad Pitt might come up with.
"Angelina Jolie has red carpet composure down to an art — unless you ask her about adoption. At Monday’s New York premiere of her directorial debut, “In the Land of Blood and Honey,” the only time we saw the ethereal beauty at a — brief — loss for words was when we asked if she’d consider adopting from Bosnia, where she shot the war-themed drama.
“There’s, I, you know, it’s not something that’s, uh, that I’ve thought of,” Jolie stammered. But she did say she was working with SOS Children’s Villages to help support a Bosnian child through sales of the film’s soundtrack, “and in other ways.”"

NEWSDAY - At least 56 killed, in attacks on Afghan Shiites, Dec06, 2011

KABUL, Afghanistan - In Afghanistan's first major sectarian assault since the fall of the Talibanregime a decade ago, a suicide bomber slaughtered 56 Shiite worshippers and wounded more than 160 others Tuesday outside a Shiite shrine in the capital.
The body of a woman, clutching a dead child in each arm, was sprawled along a dirt road littered with shoes, bloodstained clothing, hats and body parts after the blast, which took place as a bombing killed four Shiites in the northern city of Mazar-i-Sharif.
A loudspeaker at the shrine blasted a recitation of the Quran as ambulances with loud sirens rushed in to carry away the dead and wounded. Outside a hospital in Kabul, a man sobbing with other relatives cried out "Mother! My mother!"
The Taliban condemned the attack, which was reminiscent of the wave of sectarian bloodshed that shook Iraq during the height of the war there. Suspicion centered on militant groups based in neighboring Pakistan where Sunni attacks on minority Shiites are common.
