Manuel Preciado dies 24 hours after being appointed Villarreal coach
 "Former Sporting Gijon coach Manuel Preciado has died of a heart attack, aged 54, BBC reports.
His death comes just 24 hours after he agreed a deal with relegated Villarreal to take over for the 2012-13 season.
Preciado was sacked by Sporting Gijon in January after twice earning them promotion into Spain's top flight.
As a player Preciado was a defender who began his career at Racing Santander and also appeared for Linares, Mallorca, Alaves, Ourense and Gimnastica.
After retiring in 1992, he began coaching with Gimnastica in the mid-1990s and also had spells in charge of Racing B, Racing Santander, Levante and Murcia before joining Sporting Gijon in 2006.
He led them into the Spanish top division in his second season and spent six years with the club."

 "JANESVILLE, Wis. (AP) — Former Milwaukee Bucks owner Jim Fitzgerald has died at the age of 86.
The team says Fitzgerald died Monday morning in his hometown of Janesville. Schneider Apfel Schneider B funeral home also confirmed his death. His cause of death was not released.
Fitzgerald joined the Bucks' board of directors in 1973, then became president and chairman of the board in 1976. He was the owner during a successful era that included the hiring of Hall of Fame coach Don Nelson and a string of seven consecutive division titles from the 1979-80 season to the 1985-1986 season."

 "BOSTON—Herb Reed, the last surviving original member of 1950s vocal group the Platters who sang on hits like "Only You" and "The Great Pretender," has died. He was 83.
Reed died on Monday in a Boston area hospice after a period of declining health that included chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, manager Fred Balboni said.
Reed was a Kansas City, Mo., native who founded the Platters in Los Angeles in 1953. Then a quartet, the group won amateur talent shows, and performed nights and weekends up and down the California coast while the members worked days at a car wash and at other odd jobs"

 "“Desperate Housewives” actress Kathryn Joosten, who won two Emmy awards for her supporting role as a nosy neighbor on the recently ended hit show, died of lung cancer on Saturday, her spokeswoman said. She was 72-years-old.
Joosten died with her family at her side at home in Westlake Village, 40 miles northwest of Los Angeles, said her publicist, Nadine Jolson. She had battled the disease since being diagnosed in 2001.
Her death came less than three weeks after the airing of the final episode of “Desperate Housewives” in which Joosten’s character, Karen McCluskey, died of the illness with the Johnny Mathis song “Wonderful, Wonderful” playing in her room."

 "(NEW YORK) -- Former NBA player Orlando Woolridge died Thursday at his parents' home in Mansfield, La, at the age of 52. Woolridge had been sick with a chronic heart condition, and was under hospice care at their home.
Woolridge played his College ball at Notre Dame, and was a part of the Irish's 1978 Final Four team. He played 13 NBA seasons for seven teams, averaging 16 points-per-game for his career."

She had lung cancer, said her wife, Anne Koedt.
Ms. Levine was a lawyer and producer for CBS documentaries before she became a celebrated author of more than 20 books.
Her writing career rose to prominence in the early 1990s, and her works included illustrated stories for children, novels for young adults and critical assessments of radical feminism"

"NEW YORK, N.Y. – Theater producer Edgar “Buddy” Freitag, who helped back some of Broadway’s most buzzed-about shows, including “The Drowsy Chaperone,” ”Memphis” and “The Goat, Or Who is Sylvia?,” has died. He was 80.
Freitag died Wednesday in New York of complications from a brain tumour, according to his wife and producing partner, Barbara Freitag. He died less than two weeks before the Tony Awards, with several of his shows — including the hit revival of “Porgy and Bess,” ”Nice Work If You Can Get It” and “End of the Rainbow” — vying for top honours.
Freitag had a 17-year career at Grey Advertising Agency in New York City and then co-founded United Financial of America, Inc., a national commercial mortgage banking and brokerage firm. After the sale of his company, he and his wife began investing in off-Broadway and Broadway shows."

Top Nazi war criminal dies in Germany aged 90
 "A Nazi war criminal who escaped from a Dutch prison after World War II has died in Germany. Klaas Carel Faber was second on the Simon Wiesenthal Centre’s list of Nazi criminals, and was wanted by the Netherlands, as he had been sentenced to death for dozens of murders. Faber was a former member of the Nazi SS unit known as Silver Fir, and was originally sentenced to death in 1947, escaping from prison before he could be executed. In 1957, a German court threw out all charges against him for lack of evidence, and Bavarian authorities said the Netherlands must produce new evidence before Faber could be arrested again. The Netherlands secured a European arrest warrant for Faber in November 2010, and sought his return to Dutch custody but Bavarian officials refused to execute the warrant. more to read on: www.rt.com"
